万国郵便連合100年 1974年（昭和49年） 10月 9日発行 1874年、一般郵便連合（General Postal Union）に関する国際機関の設置が定められた。日本は1877年（明治10年）6月1日に加盟した。1878年、パリにおける第2回大会議で、一般郵便連合は万国郵便連合（UPU）に改称された。切手は、1974年に創立100年を記念して発行され、UPU記念旗と俵屋宗達画「牛追い図」がデザインされている。日本では過去に、1927年にUPU加盟50年記念切手4種が発行され、戦後1949年には創立75年記念切手4種と小型シートが発行されている。
Centenary of UPU Issued on October 9, 1974 (Showa 49) In 1874, the establishment of an international organization for the General Postal Union was established. Japan joined on June 1, 1877 (Meiji 10). In 1878, at the Second Grand Conference in Paris, the General Postal Union was renamed the Universal Postal Union (UPU).The stamp was issued in 1974 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its founding, and is designed with the UPU commemorative flag and Tawaraya Sotatsu's "Ushioizu". In the past, in 1927, four types of stamps commemorating the 50th anniversary of UPU membership were issued in Japan, and in 1949 after the war, four types of stamps commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding and small sheets were issued.
