沖縄復帰 1972年（昭和47年） 5月 15日発行 1971年5月、沖縄が日本に返還された。経緯は、1969年（昭和44年）の日米首脳会談で、アメリカのニクソン大統領がアメリカ軍基地を維持した「72年・核抜き・本土並み」の返還が決定した。日米政府は1971年（昭和46年）沖縄返還協定に調印し、1972年5月15日に沖縄は日本へ復帰した。切手はその記念に発行され、守礼門と紅型（びんがた）がデザインされている。
Reversion of Okinawa Issued on May 15, 1972 (Showa 47)
In May 1972, Okinawa was returned to Japan. At the Japan-US summit meeting in 1969 (Showa 44), it was decided that President Nixon of the United States would return the "1972, nuclear-free, mainland-level" that maintained the US military base. The Japanese and US governments signed the Okinawa Reversion Agreement in 1971, and Okinawa returned to Japan on May 15, 1972.
Stamps are issued in commemoration of this, and are designed with Shureimon and Bingata (bingata: a traditional dyeing technique that represents Okinawa).
