札幌オリンピック冬季大会 1972年（昭和47年） 2月 3日発行 1972年2月、札幌オリンピックは2月3日から2月13日までアジアで初めての開催された。実は、太平洋戦争前の1940年に、東京オリンピックと冬季オリンピックが開催される予定だった。しかし軍部の反対で開催権を返上してしまった経緯がある。戦後、再びオリンピック開催に努力した結果、1964年東京オリンピックとともに、札幌冬季オリンピックが開催されることになった。切手は、それを記念して切手3種と小型シートが発行され、フィギアスケートと真駒内競技場（50円）、スキー滑降とボブスレー（15円）がデザインされている。
