昭和天皇・皇后両陛下御訪欧 1971年（昭和46年） 10月 14日発行 1971年10月、昭和天皇（明仁陛下）は、香淳（こうじゅん）皇后とともに、ヨーロッパ７カ国（英国、オランダ、スイス、西ドイツ他）を訪問された。昭和天皇にとっては、1921年以来５０年ぶりの御訪欧、香淳皇后にとっては初めての海外旅行だった。切手はそれを記念して2種と小型シートが発行され、一枚には天皇旗と菊、鳳凰が描かれ、もう一枚は香淳皇后が描かれた「海の彼方」がデザインされた。
Emperor and Empress Visit Europe Issued on October 14, 1971 (Showa 46) In October 1971, Emperor Showa (His Majesty Akihito) visited seven European countries (UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, West Germany, etc.) with Empress Kojun. It was the first visit to Europe in 50 years since 1921 for Emperor Showa, and the first overseas trip for Empress Kojun. In commemoration of that, two kinds of stamps and a small sheet were issued, one with the emperor's flag, chrysanthemum, and phoenix, and the other with Empress Kojun's "Beyond the Sea".
