25th Anniv. Women's Suffrage Issued on April 10, 1971 (Showa 46) In Japan, a cabinet decision on women's suffrage was made by the Shidehara Cabinet in October 1945. The following day,  October 11, the Allied Forces General Commander Douglas MacArthur issued a directive to the Shidehara Cabinet for the five major reforms, which included "liberation of Japanese women by granting suffrage." The stamp was issued in 1971 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the promulgation of women's suffrage (now women's suffrage), and is designed for women to vote and the Parliament.
