国際ユースホステル大会 1968年（昭和43年） 8月 6日発行 世界最初のユースホステルは、ドイツのシルマンが1912年、青少年が廉価で宿泊できる施設を開設したのが始まりである。日本では1951年に、日本ユースホステル協会（JYH）が発足した。切手は、1968年の国際ユースホステル協会東京開催を記念して発行され、太陽とシンボルマークがデザインされている。

The world's first youth hostel began in 1912 when Sylman of Germany opened a low-cost accommodation facility for young people. In Japan, the Japan Youth Hostels Association (JYH) was established in 1951.The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 1968 International Youth Hostel Association held in Tokyo, and is designed with the sun and the symbol mark.
