Round World Air Route Issued on March 6, 1967 (Showa 42) The Round the World route is a regular route that departs from the airport of departure, goes around the world, and returns to the place of departure by a single airline. In March 1967, Japan Airlines began operating the only round-the-world flight as an Asian airline. This round-the-world flight operated until 1972, after which it was repeatedly canceled. The stamp was issued to commemorate the opening of Japan's Round the World Airline, and is designed for the World Airline and Douglas DC-8.
