10th National Census Issued on September 25, 1965 (Showa 40) In September 1965, the 10th census was conducted. The census is a statistical survey conducted every five years for all Japanese in order to clarify the actual conditions of the domestic population and households. The first census was conducted in 1920, and 1965 is the tenth census since then.The stamp was issued in commemoration of that, and the Hinomaru of the Japanese flag and the "Kokeshi doll" representing the Japanese population are designed.
