Centenary of the I.T.U. Issued on May 17, 1965 (Showa 40) The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It originated from the International Telegraph Union, which was established in Paris in 1865. The agency seeks to establish global standardization and regulation in the fields of wireless and telecommunications. Japan joined when it was founded in 1859. As of October 2017, there were 193 member countries,Japan participates in the management and operation of the ITU as a member of the Security Council.
The stamp is ITU 100 years history and the earth are designed. Prior to the issuance of this stamp, the "ITU Membership 75th Anniversary Stamp" was issued in 1954.
