Reclamation of Lake Hachirogata
Issued on September 15, 1964 (Showa 39)

Reclamation of Lake Hachirogata Issued on September 15, 1964 (Showa 39) The reclamation of Hachirogata is largely due to Dutch engineers. Among them, Peter. F. Janssen visited the site in 1954 and proposed the outline of the Hachirogata reclamation plan and its usefulness to the government, and further contributed to the progress of the business through several visits to Japan. The stamp was issued in commemoration of the "Hachirogata Landing Ceremony" held in September 1964, and is designed with rice, wheat and dairy cows.
