1962年10月、国際文通週間（International Letter Writing Week）切手が発行された。これは、文通による相互理解で世界平和に貢献する国際的週間である。万国郵便連合（UPU）結成日である10月9日から1週間、毎年設定されている。
切手は、浮世絵師「安藤広重」の、東海道五十三次「日本橋」がデザインされている。
