Tokyo Olympic Games Fund 2 Issued on 1961(Showa36) - 1964(showa39)

Tokyo Olympic Games Fund 2 Issued on 10 11,1961(Showa36) - 6 23, 1964(showa39) After the war, Japan was aiming to host the Olympics. In 1959, Japan set Tokyo as the venue for the 1964 Olympic Games and ran for the 55th IOC Session. As a result, it was decided to hold the event in Tokyo with a majority of votes. At that time, the Japanese economy was still before high economic growth, so there was concern that the holding cost would be 28.1 billion yen (current monetary value is about 200 billion yen). The government decided to hold the event in anticipation of a significant increase in economic growth after the event and an increase in tourism revenue. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued stamps with donations six times in four years (20 types, donations totaling 1.49 billion yen) from 1961 to 1964 as an aid to the Olympic budget. Since the stamps were bought by the people and not used , the actual profit of the government is estimated to be about 3 billion yen.
