50th Anniv. of Aviation in Japan Issued on September 20, 1960 (Showa 35) In December 1910 (Meiji 43), Captain Yoshitoshi Tokugawa and Captain Kumazo Hino succeeded in the first flight of a powered airplane in Japan at the Yoyogi practice field in Tokyo, and the history of airplanes in Japan began from this time.Then, in 1919, Japan's first attempted mail delivery by air. (Stamp for a flight trial was issued at this time)
