1250th Anniv. of Nara City Issued on March 10, 1960 (Showa 35) Heijokyo was the capital of the Nara period (710-784). It is a city built to imitate Chang'an Castle in Tang, China. It is located in the current Nara City and Yamatokoriyama City, and has an area of about 4.3 km2 and is divided into 72 areas.
Dai Dai-ri (castle) in the center, and the passage was divided into Sakyo and Ukyoby Suzaku Avenue running north and south in the center, and it was neatly divided like a Chess-Boad.The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 1250th anniversary of the transfer of capital to Nara, and is designed with "Shosoin" (treasure storehouse) and a deer.
