15th I.A.T.A General Meeting Issued on March 25, 1953 (Showa 28) The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is an international organization organized by air carriers around the world, with the aim of promoting the development of safe, reliable and economical air transport. The current organization was established in April 1945 by airlines in 36 countries. Japan Airlines became regular members in February 1954.The stamp was issued in 1959 to commemorate the general meeting of the Association. The design is the IATA mark and the red-crowned crane.
