国際文通週間 1959年（昭和34年） 10月 4日発行
国際文通週間は、世界の人々が文通によって互に理解を深め、世界平和に貢献する目的の郵便キャンペーンである。UPU(万国郵便連合)結成記念日の10月9日を含む1週間をその期間としている。 日本は、前年から国際文通週間切手を発行し、今回が第2回目の発行である。
切手は、江戸時代の浮世絵師、安藤広重の東海道五十三次「桑名」がデザインされている。
International Letter Writing Week Issued on October 4, 1959 (Showa 34)
International Letter Writing Week is a postal campaign aimed at helping people around the world deepen mutual understanding and contribute to world peace. The period is one week including October 9th, which is the anniversary of the formation of the UPU (Universal Postal Union). Japan has issued stamps for International letter Writing week since the previous year, and this is the second issue.
The stamp is designed with the 53rd Tokaido "Kuwana" drawn by Hiroshige Ando, an ukiyo-e artist from the Edo period.
