Red Cross Centenary Issued on June 5, 1959 (Showa 34) The Red Cross idea (saving injured people regardless of enemy or ally) advocated by the founder Henry Dunant in 1859 is the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and each country. It has been inherited by three organizations, the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. These three institutions make up the Red Cross movement.
Stamps are issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Red Cross Thought and are designed for the activities of nurses.
