International Letter Writing Week Issued on October 5, 1958 (Showa 34) International Letter Writing Week is postal campaign aimed at helping people around the world deepen mutual understanding and contribute to world peace. The period is one week including October 9th, which is the anniversary of the formation of the UPU (Universal Postal Union).Japan began issuing "International Letter Writing Week" stamps from this year, and has issued them every year since then.
The stamp is esigned with "Kei-shi(Kyoto)" by Hiroshige Ando, an ukiyo-e artist who was active in Edo period.
