The original author "Ukiyo-e artist" Kiyonaga Torii (1781-1789) is a representative ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period. The "woman returning from the public bath in the rain" adopted in the design of the stamp became famous by issuance of this stamp.
By the way, shortly before issuance of this stamp, the first stamp boom occurred in Japan, and it was expected that many people who would like to purchase stamp would line up at the post office. Therefore, the Ministry of Posts and Telecom.has reprinted the number of issues from 10 million to 21 million.As a result, the prices of stamps issued around this time did not rise, and speculators were disappointed.
