Admission of Japan to U.N Issued on March 8, 1957 (Showa 32) In June 1952 (Showa 27), Japan applied for membership in the United Nations.Japan's application was rejected by the Soviet Union's veto, although it received an overwhelming 10: 1 approval at the UN Security Council in September.
In December of the same year, the 7th General Assembly of the United Nations recognized and approved that Japan met the conditions for accession stipulated by the Charter of the United Nations. TwiceThen, in October 1956, after "normalizing diplomatic relations between Japan and the Soviet Union," Japan's accession to the United Nations was approved by the Security Council and the General Assembly in December of the same year. Japan became the 80th member of the United Nations and returned to the international community in earnest.
The stamp is designed with the "United Nations mark".
