東京開都500年記念 1956年（昭和31年） 10月 1日発行 1956年（昭和31年）10月、郵政省は東京開都500年記念切手1種を発行した。1457年に太田道灌（おおたどうかん）によって 江戸城が築城されたのが東京の始まりである。1956年はそれから500年目にあたるため、これを記念して、都民の日に「大東京祭」が催された。その後は毎年恒例となり、1982年からは「ふるさと東京まつり」と改称された。
Tokyo Quincentenary Issued on October 1, 1956 (Showa 31) In October 1956 (Showa 31), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a stamp commemorating the 500th anniversary of the opening of Tokyo.Tokyo began in 1457 when Edo Castle was built by Ota Dokan.Since 1956 is the 500th year since then, the "Great Tokyo Festival" was held on Tokyo Citizen's Day to commemorate this.After that, it became an annual event, and from 1982 it was renamed the "Furusato Tokyo Festival".
