世界柔道選手権 1956年（昭和31年） 5月 3日発行 1956年（昭和31年）5月、郵政省は、世界柔道選手権東京大会を記念して切手１種を発行した。第1回世界柔道選手権大会は、 東京の蔵前国技館 で 1956年 5月3日開催された 。この頃はまだ柔道が国際競技としてメジャーではなかったが、1964年東京オリンピックまでの間に、柔道は世界的な格闘技（礼儀を重んじるスポーツ）として大きく成長することになった。
