25th Anniv. of Broadcasting Issued on March 22, 1950 (Showa 25)

25th Anniv. of Broadcasting Issued on March 22, 1950 (Showa 25) Radio broadcasting in Japan started in March 1925 (Taisho 14) at the temporary broadcasting station of Tokyo Kogei High School in Shibaura, Tokyo. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued the above stamps in March 1950 (Showa 25) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the start of radio broadcasting. The three years from 1947 to 1949 was a period of commemorative special stamp outbreaks, so, about 60 types of stamps were issued in the three years. GHQ considered this a problem and instructed the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to curb issuance, so the issuance of commemorative stamps has decreased significantly since 1950.
