Central Meteorological Observatory Issued on June 1, 1949 (Showa 24)

Central Meteorological Observatory Issued on June 1, 1949 (Showa 24) In June 1949 (Showa 24), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued this stamp to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Central Meteorological Observatory. The central meteorological observatory depicted in the design is the only meteorological building that survived the air raid during the war. By the way, many Japanese commemorative stamps are issued according to the events held every quarter century, such as the 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th anniversary. Similar cases can be seen overseas.
