Beppu Spa Issued on March 10, 1949 (Showa 24) In March 1949 (Showa 24), the Ministry of Communications issued tourism stamps of Beppu, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, as a precursor to the promotion of tourism business(currently inbound) advocated by the government. Originally, the government had planned to issue stamps that made a series of tourist attractions nationwide, advocated by the Mainichi Shimbun, but it was issued in advance due to the strong efforts of Beppu City.According to the philately magazine at that time, the original painting was oil painting, but the printing method was intaglio, so it was said that the completed illustration was uncomfortable.
