Adoption of New Constitution Issued on May 3, 1947 (Showa 22)

Adoption of New Constitution Issued on May 3, 1947 (Showa 22) The Japanese government, which was under the occupation of the United States, accepted the draft of the United States (MacArthur 3 principles) that included the new constitution presented by the United States ((1) survival of the emperor system (head of state), (2) abandonment of war, and (3) abolition of the feudal system). As a result, the Constitution of Japan came into effect in May 1947. To commemorate this, two types of stamps were issued, and a small sheet was also issued.
The preamble to the Constitution is written in Japanese and English on the small sheet.
