Telegraph stamps Issued on 5.7,1890 - 2.28,1890 (Meiji18-23) Japanese telegraph was started in 1869 (Meiji 2). Initially, the telegram (telegram) charge was paid in cash, but with the revision of the Telegraph Ordinance in May 1885, it became a nationwide uniform system. As a result, the Ministry of Industry (later the Ministry of Communications) issued 10 types of telegraph stamps. Unlike other stamps, the design and dimensions are 19 mm long and 18 mm wide, and lightning, insulators, electric wires, Daniell cells, etc. are drawn. Postage stamps will be used as telegram charges from April 1888 (Meiji 28), and telegraph stamps have completed their mission.Since 1908, high- priced stamps (chrysanthemum stamps of 5 yen and 10 yen) have been issued for payment of large telegram charges.
