琉球大学開校 1951（昭和26年） 2月12日発行 1945年（昭和20）、沖縄はアメリカ合衆国による統治下に置かれ、1947年（昭和22）に義務教育六・三制を実施、同年、琉球列島米国軍政府教育部は沖縄民政府に対して、1948年（昭和23）にジュニアカレッジ設立を指令。1950年（昭和25年）に琉球大学が設立された。この切手は1952年2月、琉球大学開校を記念して50万枚発行され、琉球大学校舎と首里城のシルエットがデザインされている。
Opening of Ryukyu University Issued on Feb. 12, 1951 (Showa26) In 1945 (Showa 20), Okinawa was placed under the rule of the United States, and in 1947 (Showa 22), the compulsory education 6/3 system was implemented. Ordered the establishment of a junior college in 1948 (Showa 23). The University of the Ryukyus was established in 1950 (Showa 25). In February 1952, 500,000 stamps were issued to com- memorate the opening of the University of the Ryukyus, and the silhouettes of the University of the Ryukyus and Shuri Castle are designed.
