新聞週間 1953（昭和28年） 10月 1日発行 新聞週間は、日本新聞協会が1948年（昭和23）から毎年10月、1週間にわたって催すイベントである。起源は、GHQの指示でアメリカの「ニューズペーパー・ウィーク」と呼応して開催され、現在に至る。切手は沖縄のジャーナリストで政治家太田 朝敷（おおたちょうふ、1865 - 1938）がデザインされている。彼は慶應義塾で福沢諭吉に師事し、流球新報の社長となった。切手は、太田 朝敷と新聞の原盤がデザインされている。
Newspaper Week'53 Issued on Oct. 1, 1953 (Showa28) Newspaper Week is an event held by the Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors every October from 1948 (Showa 23) for a week. The origin was held in response to the American "Newspaper Week" at the direction of GHQ, and continues to the present day. The stamps are designed by Okinawan journalist and politician Ota Chofu (1865-1938). He studied under Yukichi Fukuzawa at Keio University and became the president of Ryukyu Shinpo.
