甘藷伝来350年 1955（昭和30年） 11月 26日発行 甘藷（サツマイモ）が中国から琉球へ輸入されたのは、1605（慶長10）年である。それ以前、中南米原産のサツマイモがルソン（フィリピン）に伝来したのは1571年、これが陳振龍によって中国の 福建へ渡ったのが1594年のこととされている。切手は、甘藷伝来350年を記念して発行され、野国総官宮の社殿と甘藷がデザインされている。
350th Anniv. of Sweet Potatoes Issued on Nov. 26, 1955 (Showa30) Sweet potatoes were imported from China to Ryukyu in 1605 (Keicho 10). Prior to that, sweet potatoes native to Central and South America were introduced to Luzon (Philippines) in 1571, and were transferred to Fujian, China by Chen Zhenlong in 1594. The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 350th anniversary of the introduction of sweet potatoes, and the shrine and sweet potatoes of Noguni Sokangu are designed.
