那覇市40年 1961（昭和36年） 5月 20日発行 沖縄の県庁所在地で中心都市である那覇特別区は、1921年（大正10）に市制施行により那覇市となった。那覇市は、日本の県庁所在地の中で最も面積が小さく、人口密度が高いである。切手は、1961年5月に那覇市制40年を記念して発行され、「外洋船と那覇市街、御冠船（おかんせん：中国皇帝の名代で派遣される使節の船）と那覇市の紋章」がデザインされている。
40th Anniv. of Naha City Issued on May 20, 1961 (Showa36) The Naha Special District, which is the central city of Okinawa's prefectural capital, became Naha City in 1921 (Taisho 10) due to the enforcement of the city system. Naha City has the smallest area and high population density among the prefectural capitals of Japan. The stamp was issued in May 1961 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Naha municipal organization, and was issued by an open sea ship, Naha city, a crown ship (Okansen: a ship dispatched in the name of the Chinese emperor) and the Naha city emblem is designed.
