政府創立10年 1962（昭和37年） 4月 1日発行 1945年（昭和20）6月、沖縄はアメリカ軍に占領され、1972年（昭和47）まで実質的に統治された。1952年（昭和27）の日米講和条約締結後も沖縄はアメリカの統治下に置かれた。その時創立された琉球政府は、1952年（昭和27）から1972年（昭和47）まで、沖縄本島を中心に存在した。切手は、琉球政府創立10周年を記念して2種発行され、「政府庁舎」と「政府庁舎の階段」がデザインされている。
10th Anniv. of Estab. of Government Issued on Apr. 1, 1962 (Showa37) In June 1945 (Showa 20), Okinawa was occupied by the US military and was virtually ruled until 1972 (Showa 47). Even after the conclusion of the Japan-US Peace Treaty in 1952 (Showa 27), Okinawa was under the control of the United States. The Ryukyu government, which was founded at that time, existed mainly on the main island of Okinawa from 1952 (Showa 27) to 1972 (Showa 47). Two types of stamps are issued to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Ryukyu government, and the "govern- ment building" and "stairs of the government building" are designed.
