Cultural Treasures Protection Week Issued on Nov.1, 1964 (Showa39)

Cultural Treasures Protection Week Issued on Nov. 1, 1964 (Showa39) The Ryukyu Kingdom was established about 570 years ago and has existed in the Nansei Islands of Japan for about 450 years. Due to the Meiji Restoration, the Japanese government expelled the king in 1879, declared the establishment of Okinawa Prefecture (abolition of the feudal clan), and the Ryukyu Kingdom was destroyed. There are many cultural properties in Okinawa, but this time, Miyaradunchi was adopted. Miyaradunchi was built around 1819 (Bunsei 2) by Yaeyama's administrative officer Miyara Pechinden, imitating a samurai residence. Currently, it is designated as a national important cultural property. 1500 stamps were distributed with Specimen overprints.
