New National Museum Issued on Oct. 6, 1966 (Showa41)

New National Museum Issued on Oct. 6, 1966 (Showa41) The Battle of Okinawa in 1945 (Showa 20) burned down the "Okinawa Folk Museum". In 1946 (Showa 21) after the war, activities to collect residual cultural properties were carried out from the ruins around Shuri Castle, and the "Shuri City Folk Museum" was established. In October 1966 (Showa 41), a new building was completed in Shurionakacho with the assistance of the United States. After that, the museum continued to spread the history and culture of Okinawa even after returning to the mainland in 1972, but it was closed in 2007 and transferred to the newly built "Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum". The stamp was issued in commemoration of the completion of the new issue of "Okinawa Prefectural Museum" in 1966, and "Museum and Ryukyu Dragon Pillar" is designed.
