Miyako & Yaeyama TV Stations Issued on Dec. 22, 1967 (Showa42)

Miyako & Yaeyama TV Stations Issued on Dec. 22, 1967 (Showa42) In December 1967, the Okinawa Broadcasting Corporation started television broadcasting in the Miyako and Yaeyama districts ahead of the main island of Okinawa, and opened the Miyako Television Broadcasting Station (OHK). In 1972, OHK became the NHK Okinawa Broadcasting Station due to the return to the mainland. Also, because the Yaeyama Broadcasting Station was abolished, OHK became the parent station of the Maejima Islands. The stamp was issued in commemoration of the opening of the Miyako / Yaeyama TV station, and the TV tower is designed in the silhouette of Miyakojima and Yaeyama.
