120th Anniv. of Vaccination in Ryukyus Issued on Mar. 15, 1968 (Showa43) Treatment of smallpox with vaccination in Okinawa is three years earlier than in mainland Japan. The first story of the cowpox vaccination method in Okinawa was performed when the American doctor Parker stopped by Naha in 1837, but it was the achievement of Norihito Nakachi learned from the missionary Betstelheim who came to Japan in 1846. Is known. The stamp was issued to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the implementation of cowpox vaccination and was designed by doctor Nakachi Kijin.
