牛痘種痘実施120年 1968（昭和43年）3月15日発行 沖縄の種痘による天然痘治療は日本の本土より3年早い。沖縄の牛痘種痘法の初伝は1837年に米人医師パーカーが那覇に立寄った際に施術したが、これが普及したのは、1846年に来住した宣教師ベツテルハイムから習得した仲地紀仁の業績であることが判明している。切手は、牛痘種痘実施120年を記念して発行され、医師の仲地紀仁がデザインされている。 参考； 沖縄県立図書館通信 2020
