Rehabilitation of Main Gate of Enkakuji Temple
Issued on Jul. 15, 1968 (Showa43)

Rehabilitation of Main Gate of Enkakuji Temple Issued on Jul. 15, 1968 (Showa43) The main gate of Enkakuji Temple in Okinawa had the form of Zen Buddhism Shichido Garan, like Enkakuji Temple in Kamakura. The main gate is the first gate on the front and is also called the Niomon. Although the architectural style is that of the Zen Buddhism of the Muromachi period, it is a building that represents the profound Okinawan architecture of the Nara period. It disappeared due to the war damage, but was restored in 1968 (Showa 43). A stamp was issued in commemoration of this, and the main gate of Enkakuji is drawn.
