文化財保護 1968（昭和43年）11月1日発行 沖縄では、古代琉球王国の文化財保護を推進する目的で様々な活動が行われている。今回は「弁財天堂（べんざいてんどう）」」が切手に採用された。弁財天堂は、円覚寺前の池の中央にある赤瓦の堂で、航海安全を守る水の女神の弁財天を祀（まつ）っている。1945年、太平洋戦争で破壊されたが、1968年に復旧した。切手はこれを記念して発行され、弁財天堂が描かれている。 参考；フリー百科事典『ウィキペディア（Wikipedia）』2022.3
Cultural Treasures Protection Week Issued on Nov. 1, 1968 (Showa43) In Okinawa, various activities are being carried out for the purpose of promoting the protection of cultural properties of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. This time, "Benzaitendo" was adopted as a stamp. Benzaiten is a red tiled hall in the center of the pond in front of Engakuji Temple, and enshrines Benzaiten, the goddess of water that protects voyage safety.
