National Census Issued on Oct. 1, 1970 (Showa45)

National Census Issued on Oct. 1, 1970 (Showa45) The first post-war census in Okinawa was carried out in December 1950 by the Military Government Decree No. 25, "Population Census of the Ryukyu Islands." After that, the Statistics Law promulgated by the Ryukyu Government stipulated that a census should be conducted every 10 years, and in December 1960, the Ryukyu Government's Planning and Statistics Bureau conducted a census. Ten years later, in October 1970 (Showa 45), the third census was conducted. Stamps are issued in commemoration of that, and the Okinawa Islands map and people are designed.
