Cultural Treasures Protection Week Issued on Nov. 2, 1970 (Showa45) In Okinawa, various activities are being carried out for the purpose of promoting the protection of cultural properties of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. This time, Kumejima's "Une no Daiso Tetsu" was adopted as a stamp. The large eel sotetsu in the garden of the Kikumura family on Kumejima, Okinawa is said to be 250 to 300 years old and is designated as a natural monument of the prefecture.
