文化財保護 1970（昭和45年）11月2日発行 沖縄では、古代琉球王国の文化財保護を推進する目的で様々な活動が行われている。今回は久米島の「宇根の大ソテツ（うねのだいそてつ）」が切手に採用された。沖縄県久米島の喜久村家の庭にある宇根の大ソテツは、樹齢250～300年といわれ、県の天然記念物に指定されている。高さ6mと4mの2株があり、200以上の枝を持っている。 参考；2018 - 2022 JTB Publishing.
Cultural Treasures Protection Week Issued on Nov. 2, 1970 (Showa45) In Okinawa, various activities are being carried out for the purpose of promoting the protection of cultural properties of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. This time, Kumejima's "Une no Daiso Tetsu" was adopted as a stamp. The large eel sotetsu in the garden of the Kikumura family on Kumejima, Okinawa is said to be 250 to 300 years old and is designated as a natural monument of the prefecture.
