New Values Surcharged Issued on 1952 (Showa27) After the regular stamps were issued in 1948, the resale stamps were issued in 1949. The above stamps were issued with high-value overprints of 10 yen and 100 yen on resale stamps. The telegraph of Okinawa started in 1896 (Meiji 29), but everything was destroyed and burned down in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945.After that, by 1951, the telegraph infrastructure was basically restored and the demand increased, so these two types of overprint stamps were tentatively issued to pay the costs. However, the momentum of inflation accelerated, and the Ryukyu civilian government decided to raise the price of regular stamps entirely.
