Meiji Shrine Completion Memorial Issued on November 1, 1920 (Taisho 9) - Specimen - In 1913 (Taisho 2), the government proposed the construction of the Meiji Shrine as a deity of the Emperor Meiji and the Empress. A magnificent shrine was started built on a 726,000-square-meter site in Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku. Seven years later,the completion festival was held in November 1920.
