第６回国際ウイルス学会議 1984年（昭和59年） 9月 1日発行 国際ウイルス委員会（ICTV）は、ウイルスの普遍的な分類体系を開発し、生物に影響を与えるすべてのウイルスを命名して分類することを意図している。ICTVは、国際微生物学連合 (IUMS) のウイルス学部門 ( Virology Division ) から構成され、管理されている。切手は1984年9月の「第6回国際ウイルス会議」東京開催を記念して発行され、「ウイルス粒子の模型図」がデザインされている。

The International Committee on Taxonomy (ICTV) intends to develop a universal classification system for viruses, naming and classifying all viruses that affect living organisms. ICTV is composed and managed by the Virology Division of the International Union of Microbiological Sciences (IUMS).
The stamp was issued in commemoration of the "6th International Virus Conference" held in Tokyo in September 1984, and a "model drawing of virus particles" was designed.This leaf publishes the first and second collections.
