上越新幹線開通 1982年（昭和57年） 11月 15日発行 上越新幹線は、日本鉄道建設公団によって建設され、1982年に大宮駅?-?新潟駅間が開業した。運行区間は303キロである。それまで日本を横断する新幹線が無かったので、首都圏から日本海側の北陸（新潟・富山・金沢）方面に行くために多くの時間を費やしたが、上越新幹線の開通で大幅に短縮された。切手は開業を記念して発行され、200系新幹線と、ED16型電気機関車がデザインされている。

The Joetsu Shinkansen was built by the Japan Railway Construction Public Corporation, and in 1982 the section between Omiya Station and Niigata Station was opened. The service section is 303 km. Until then, there was no Shinkansen that crossed Japan, so I spent a lot of time going from the Tokyo metropolitan area to Hokuriku (Niigata, Toyama, Kanazawa) on the Sea of Japan side, but it was greatly shortened by the opening of the Joetsu Shinkansen.
The stamp was issued to commemorate the opening of the business, and the 200 type Shinkansen and the ED16 type electric locomotive are designed.
