10th Anniv. of the Return of Okinawa
Issued on September 16, 1981 (Showa 56)
After returning to Japan in 1972, Okinawa focused on public investment such as roads, hospitals, and schools, and various tax incentives, special cases, and tax exemptions were implemented. Although the infrastructure has become almost the same as that of the mainland due to aggressive public investment, the development of industry has been delayed and large-scale manufacturing bases in Japan and overseas have not been attracted.
The stamp was issued to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Okinawa's return to its homeland, and is designed with a Shisa (lion) and the mark of Okinawa Pref.
