Quarantine System Centenary Issued on July 14, 1979(Showa 54) In July 1979, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Japan's quarantine system. The history of Japan's quarantine system dates back to the Meiji era. Quarantine procedures in Japan are subject to laws and regulations such as the Quarantine Law.
The Quarantine Law is enacted for the purpose of preventing pathogens of infectious diseases that do not reside in Japan from invading the country.
The stamp is designed as "Quarantine Officer and Quarantine Boat".
