Issued on September 14, 1978 (Showa 53)

Chamber of Commerce Issued on August 28, 1978 (Showa 53) The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 1878 (Meiji 11) as three chambers of commerce in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe. In 1892 (Meiji 25), 15 Chambers of Commerce formed the Chamber of Commerce Federation as its union, and today it is positioned as an authorized corporation based on the Chamber of Commerce Law. The current form of the Chamber of Commerce operates under the Chamber of Commerce Act enacted in August 1953. The Chamber of Commerce Youth Division (YEG) and the Chamber of Commerce Women's Association have also been established as part of the Chamber of Commerce. In Japan, the system has been revised several times, and it has been changed from French-German to the present British-American Chamber of Commerce. The stamp was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its establishment, and the "symbol mark and the former Chamber of Commerce building" are designed.
