第23回国際眼科学会 1978年（昭和53年） 5月 15日発行 1978年５月、国際眼科学会 （WOC）が京都で開催された。それに併せて、国際眼内レンズ学会と協調し日本眼内レンズ研究会（昭和51～59年(1976～1984)）が、眼内レンズの理解と普及を 図るために活動した。切手はその開催を記念して発行され、岡本太郎の描いた「眼」がデザインされた。
23rd International Opthalmic Conference Issued on May 15, 1978 (Showa 53) In May 1978, the International Society of Ophthalmology (WOC) was held in Kyoto. At the same time, the Japan Intraocular Lens Study Group (1976-1984), in collaboration with the International Intraocular Lens Society, worked to understand and popularize intraocular lenses.The stamp was issued to commemorate the event, and the "eyes" drawn by Taro Okamoto were designed.
