The history of nursing, 1899 is the year of establishment of the International Council of Nurses. Mrs. Ethel Gordon Bedford Fenwick proposed this organization.
In the United States, there was a growing voice for women's equality, and in March 1888, the 1st International Women's Conference was held in Washington, D.C.Stamps were issued in commemoration of this competition held in Japan in May 1977, and designed for international exchange of nurses.
