Winter Olympic Games, Sapporo Issued on February 6, 1971 (Showa 46) In February 1971, the year before the Sapporo Olympics, a fund-raising stamp was issued. The following year, 1972, the Sapporo Olympics were held for the first time in Asia from February 3rd to February 13th. In fact, the Tokyo Olympics and the Winter Olympics were scheduled to be held in 1940, before the Pacific War.
However, there is a history of returning the right to hold the event due to opposition from the military. After the war, as a result of efforts to hold the Olympic Games again, the Sapporo Winter Olympic Games will be held together with the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. The stamps are designed for ice hockey and ski jumping.
